I am revisiting the idea of surrender.
I remember seeing an Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday with Iyanla Vansant, where Iyanla talked of surrender, and as she did so, she threw her arms wide open, her heart open, and raised her face upwards as if to fully receive … and it was a powerful moment for me, since I had always thought of surrender as a giving up, as defeat, as a coming apart rather than a coming open.
There are gifts in being worn down.
There are gifts in being broken open. It can *totally suck*, yes, yes and yes again. But it can also create space for a different way of thinking, a different way of being, a different way of knowing, a different way of experiencing…
