Not knowing can be uncomfortable, can’t it?
But not knowing is sort of a place of infinite possibility, isn’t it?
Ok, maybe not infinite, but if we are uncertain about what we want, or what will happen next, how things will turn out, or how we are feeling, we can either move ahead by habit (doing what we always do), or we can see that this place of unknowing may be opening up the opportunity to explore something new.
Consider this: next time you are in a place of not knowing (or not knowing yet), think of the possibility of doing something different… maybe, this time, take the opportunity to try something new- a new response, a new direction, a new idea… even if the new idea is allowing yourself to Not Know for just a little while longer.
(psst… don’t forget, even if we move forward in our habitual ways, is there a rule that says we cannot change our minds?)
Hello, Kate! I found your blog by clicking on the Heartwork button over on Kelly Rae’s page! Love what you had to say in this post! It reminds me of a favorite quote of mine by Rainer Maria Rilke:
“I beg you…to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer…”
Just thought I’d share that! Here’s to “not knowing for a little while longer”. 🙂
What a magnificent quote, THANK YOU!!!!!! Thank you for coming over from Kelly Rae’s site, it is wonderful that you stopped by. ** Your site is great, and I simply love your work.
