The Middle Way

by Kate Johnson, in category Uncategorized

I’m not proud of it, but I confess, I tend toward all or nothing thinking. So this year, I am trying very hard to focus on the middle way– at least, I am trying to even REMEMBER that there IS a such a thing as a middle way. If I am so lucky as to… Read More

One thing

by Kate Johnson, in category Uncategorized

What one thing can you do today (or find, or think about, or plan for) that can move your own heartwork forward? Find those addressed envelopes from last spring when you were almost ready to send out your manuscript, call that financial advisor, email that pilates instructor, window-shop for supplies, log off an hour early… Read More

Compassion

by Kate Johnson, in category Uncategorized

So, in thinking of forgiveness, I got to thinking about self compassion. And how incredibly it hard it is to extend to ourselves the same compassion we would extend to almost anyone else. In that light, I wanted to share something with you here that I came up with for my journaling e-workshop–a short but… Read More

identity stories

by Kate Johnson, in category Uncategorized

No photos tonight, but some thoughts. I am thinking a lot about the power of apology and acknowledgement. kinetic balance

We think of balance as something static– but mine is more like mad dashes back and forth across the teetertotter– not static at all, but overall, questing balance.
I am a lover of kinetic sculpture and mobiles, not all, usually those boasting the simpler forms. This one is above the bed, paddles made of foam by the wondrous Rachel of the Wonderland Studio (etsy)

A different kind of beautiful

by Kate Johnson, in category Uncategorized

This is another photo motivated by trying to pay different attention– these are about looking more closely at some of the things in my immediate surroundings– I tend to look past them into this virtual world, or out the window. Since I know this, I decided to take this opportunity to just reconnect- look… Read More

Pieces

by Kate Johnson, in category Uncategorized

Sometimes when I am stuck, really really stuck, it takes some sort of colossal effort to haul myself out of the stuckness.  It is as if I am attached to being stuck somehow. Stuck is safe I guess. Known. There are risks though: missed opportunities, deadlines that will pass, folks who will be disappointed.  And… Read More

February–post a day

by Kate Johnson, in category Uncategorized

I am hoping to do a post a day for the month of february– I’ll be happier if I get here more often, so I posed a little challenge to myself to help me along. 3 quick images from my phone– my computer through a mason jar, brushes, bookshelf with floormess Share This:
